September 20, 2004 --- I had to leave my lovely Anguwok (and Theo) who was expecting puppies at any time --- A much needed appointment for Dental Surgery was a must.   Anguwok waited for me as long as she could, and she delivered her first puppy just as I came into the house.  Of course I was headed for bed, but took a long detour to be there for her delivery.  By the time we were finished, my jaw was no longer medicated and I was ready to lay down.  Fortunately it was an easy delivery which did not take much effort on my part.  Here are some pictures of Angie with her four  baby girls and one little boy - taken when they were just one hour old.

Look at the third picture, the little grey and white female looks like her ribs are showing.  That is not ribs, that is the way she is marked at this time.  The grey and whites get a lot darker as they get older, and it will be interesting to see how this strangely striped puppy will look with an adult coat.   At this time I am calling her my Zebra.

And here is my favorite picture ----

Mother and daughters are doing fine.  In fact this is the most satisfied litter I have ever had.  The puppies do not cry and they often lay away from their mother which indicates to me that they are well fed and satisfied with life.  What a wonderful thing it is to be a part of the birthing miracle.

Nayak and Kaktovik presented us with two grey and white males on August 26, 2004.  these are large puppies and will no doubt grow up to be Standard Size.  They are fat and sassy.  The following picture of mother and babes was taken when they are 4 weeks old.

On July 28, 2004 Annakpok and Toy Boy delivered two black and white females and one grey and white male.  The babes have been named ITTIK, KAMALUK AND TADLUK.  I was amazed when I found that the two girls were both sleeping in the small kidney shaped food pan.  There was not enough room for Tadluk, so he let them use him as a pillow. they were about 3 weeks old.

Here are pictures of them at about 5 weeks of age.

I thought you would enjoy watching babies grow.   This is AHLAHNAH NAKIT ALASCO and her first born on St Patrick's day - March 17, 2003. The look in her eyes tells you this is truly a Mother's Love

****************************************************

This is at one day old.  Notice that the ears are already starting up and the masks are in place.  The pink part of the face will become white as the hair grows.  The dark of the mask at one day is usually about what you will see full grown.  Often times the mask will become lighter colored for a period of time and then when the dog is about 6 weeks old the dark coloring usually becomes darker and the light becomes lighter.

Regardless that the required correct mask is in place and the ears already  show they are going to be erect --   I guess one day old  is not a good time to try to get a good portrait.  What a grumpy looking face -- one that a mother can love and we can chuckle at.

***************************************************************

Three days old, and not quite as grouchy. They are fat and sassy and so warm with mother curled up around them. They don't even notice that there is a blizzard outside.

*******************************************

Nine days old.  I am always surprised with this breed.  Notice that the one in the middle already has her eyes open.  Normally, eyes do not open until they are 2 weeks old.  Also the little one does not appear to be as grouchy as he was at one day old.

*****************************************************

Twelve days old. all have their eyes open and are even starting to raise themselves on their legs.  No steps forward yet, but one was almost standing --- then the weight of the belly pulled her right back to the surface again.  They navigate quite well on their bellies and still have the natural instinct of how to get to Mom and to each other.  That instinct is evident immediately at birth.

The last picture is of the grumpy boy.  He is happier now that he has a hazy view of the world.

**********************************************************

These pictures were taken at 14 days old.  Note that the ears are erect -- the tails are starting to come up -- and amazingly they are already walking.  I really don't think I have had a litter before that has progressed this rapidly.  Usually the eyes do not open until about 14 days of age -- these guys are even starting to track and follow my fingers with their eyes ----- not much, but it is a start.

Report at 27 days of age.    The ladies are doing wonderfully -- they are fat and sassy --- trying to eat the kibbles in their mother's bowl --- one tested the water in the drinking dish and decided it was not as good as the mommy's milk.  I do not have any recent pictures of the two girls in this litter as my time has been taken primarily with the little boy. .  I have named the tiny male ALASCO'S GRUMPY LEPRECHAUN  and I am putting detailed information about  him on the SO YOU WANNA BE A BREEDER  page.   Please go to that page to see the trouble that Grumpy is now in.

4-15-03  I have been so busy with Grumpy that I have not taken much time to update this New Born page and add pictures.   So here are some pictures at 4 weeks old.

Grumpy is busy just surviving.  The Light Colored Female wonders when she will be big enough to attack this toy, and the Darker Colored Female is keeping me company at the computer.

*******************************

4-19-03  the newest pictures.  The first one is a family picture -- and of course Grumpy is the one who is going to turn his back to the camera.  MEN !!!  The second one is of a forlorn little girl who suddenly has found herself alone in the cage with only her mother's hair to keep her company.  And the third one is a female who is not enjoying having that camera stuck in her face.

The grey colored hair will become much darker, and the light colored hair will become lighter  as they grow.  See the dark strip down their backs --- that will broaden and go down their sides --- they should get as dark as Shalimar's Tiana V. Alasco whose picture is posted on the Adult Picture Album.

Every Sunday evening a group joins in a Chat Room to talk about our dogs.  Anyone is welcome to join. If you are interested you should ask Terry Wright at  twright@mtaonline.com to give you directions on how to get there.  The picture below is one of my favorites, because it looks like this little girl is practicing for the Chat session.

4-28-03  They are 6 weeks old now, and what characters they are.  It will not be long before their pictures will need to be in the "puppy" pages instead of the "new-born" pages.

The first picture is Alyeska trying to figure out what sunbeams are.  The second picture is Susitna  watching Grumpy who is in the next picture.  The top of the cage was open, and Grumpy developed a game of running around the outside and then through the "tunnel".  Do you suppose he is practicing for Agility?
